Inhibition of host MDA5 by virus

Viral protein involved in the evasion of host innate defense by inhibiting the IFIH1/MDA5 protein. Upon recognition of long viral dsRNAs, IFIH1/MDA5 initiates an antiviral signaling cascade by interacting with downstream partners. Some viral proteins including paramyxovirus V proteins interact with IFIH1/MDA5 and blocks its binding with its downstream partner MAVS.
