The use of ultrasound and roentgenography was evaluated in 50 patients with congenital hip dislocation and/or dysplasia treated with the Pavlik harness. The patients were divided into two groups based upon the predominant imaging technique used to monitor the course of treatment. Ultrasound was found to be an effective monitoring technique. A roentgenogram at conclusion of treatment is recommended to assess the acetabular development most accurately.
