Laser ablation with a neodymium:yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser can achieve a high rate of complete tissue necrosis and has been applied as a minimally invasive, palliative option in hepatocellular carcinoma, liver metastasis in colorectal cancer, and malignant thyroid nodules.
