Acute pancreatitis is associated with increased cytokine release from different cell sources. We have investigated the ability of acinar cells, in comparison with inflammatory peripheral blood cells, to produce tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha in response to pancreatitis-associated ascitic fluid (PAAF).
