Conventional and tissue Doppler echocardiographically derived myocardial velocity gradients (MVGs) were used to characterize the myocardium in patients with Friedreich's ataxia (FRDA), and the relationship between MVGs and the mutation in the FRDA gene, a GAA triplet repeat expansion, was investigated.
