The detection of circulating Aspergillus galactomannan antigen is a useful tool for serodiagnosis of aspergillosis. However, the latex agglutination test for the detection of galactomannan is not completely reliable due to it's low sensitivity. The sandwich ELISA was developed to achieve high sensitivity.
