Keratan sulfate (KS) is cleaved from its KS proteoglycan (KSPG) by an as yet unknown beta-galactosidase. It performs a similar function to beta-galactosidase GLB1 (Asp et al. 1969). A simplified version of KS is used to demonstrate cleavage reactions.,
