MODEL_NOTES=Panther Pathway: P00039 Group III Metabotropic Glutamate Receptors are composed of receptor proteins, mGlu4, mGlu6, mGlu7 and mGlu8, which are negatively coupled to PKA and intracellular cAMP signalling. These receptors are found in forebrain, retina, and cerebellum. Group III mGlu receptors have not been linked with as many neurological conditions as groups I and II, however they do appear to function as strong anticonvulsants in several experimental models of epilepsy. They also seem to be neuroprotective agents in models of ischemia.
