Nucleosome core

Protein characteristic of the nucleosome, a repeating structural unit in chromatin that packages DNA to give the chromatin a 'beads-on-a-string' appearance. Each repeat consists of approximately 146 base pairs of DNA wound around a disk-shaped protein core which is composed of two of each of the nucleosomal histones H2A, H2B, H3 and H4.
