GPI-anchor

Protein bound to the lipid bilayer of a membrane through either a GPI-anchor (glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor), a complex oligoglycan linked to a phosphatidylinositol group, or a GPI-like-anchor, a similar complex oligoglycan linked to a sphingolipidinositol group, resulting in the attachment of the C-terminus of the protein to the membrane.
