Carotenoid biosynthesis

Protein involved in the synthesis of carotenoids, a group of orange, yellow, red, purple or brown pigments in plants, bacteria and some fungi. Carotenoids, which comprise the carotenes and the xanthophylls, are long polyisoprenoid molecules having conjugated double bonds enabling light absorbtion.
