NCI: Human NGFR wild-type allele is located within 17q21-q22 and is approximately 20 kb in length. This allele, which encodes tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 16 protein, plays a role in several biological process through signal transduction. The allele is involved in neuronal growth and apoptosis through nuclear factor kappa-B modulation.
