NCI: A technique using X-ray diffraction to characterize the crystallographic structure, size, and orientation in crystallized or powdered solid samples. It can be used to identify unknown substances or to determine the composition of a heterogeneous mixture of solids.,MSH: Method of using a polycrystalline powder and Rietveld refinement (LEAST SQUARES ANALYSIS) of X-RAY DIFFRACTION or NEUTRON DIFFRACTION. It circumvents the difficulties of producing single large crystals.
