MSH: A treatment strategy that uses the movement of the horse as a treatment tool for the rider who has physical, developmental or other limitations (e.g., cerebral palsy). Typically, a hippotherapy session involves a team of a health professional (e.g., occupational therapist), a horse handler, and the rider. The rhythm of the horse's movement is thought to challenge and influence the rider in improving balance, muscle symmetry, gross motor functions, etc.
