NCI: A malignant tumor arising from the salivary gland. It includes the following two entities: 1. carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma which is defined as a malignant epithelial tumor arising from a pre-existing pleomorphic adenoma and 2. carcinosarcoma which is characterized by a mixture of malignant epithelial and sarcomatous elements.
