SPN: A perineal heater is a device designed to apply heat directly by contact, or indirectly from a radiant source, to the surface of the perineum (the area between the vulva and the anus) and is used to soothe or to help heal the perineum after an episiotomy (incision of the vulvar orifice for obstetrical purposes).,UMD: Lights designed to provide dry heat to the perineal region by applying directly the radiation from a conventional light bulb (e.g., 40 watt tungsten bulb) or a carbon filament bulb. These lights are usually portable devices including a switch and appropriate mechanical and electrical protection to avoid burns or electrical hazard. Perineal lights are intended to help in the treatment of hematomas, infections, and other obstetrical and gynecological conditions.
