SPN: A rubber dam and accessories is a device composed of a thin sheet of latex with a hole in the center intended to isolate a tooth from fluids in the mouth duing dental procedures, such as filling a cavity preparation. The device is stretched around a tooth by inserting the tooth through the hole in the center. The device includes the rubber dam, rubber dam clamp, rubber dam frame, and forceps for a rubber dam clamp.,UMD: Dental clamps designed to be placed around the tooth, fitting a rubber dam over the designated tooth. These clamps are typically steel, handheld, manual instruments with a spring; some include buccal and/or dental wings on the outer portion opposite the holes. Dental rubber dam clamps are available in several sizes; they are usually placed using rubber dam clamp forceps that spread the gripping edges of the clamp around the tooth.
