Endemic Flea-Borne Typhus

MSH: An infectious disease clinically similar to epidemic louse-borne typhus (TYPHUS, EPIDEMIC LOUSE-BORNE), but caused by RICKETTSIA TYPHI, which is transmitted from rat to man by the rat flea, XENOPSYLLA CHEOPIS.,NCI: A bacterial infection caused by Rickettsia typhi or Rickettsia felis. It is transmitted to humans from infected rat fleas. Symptoms include fever, headache, joint and muscle pain, and weakness.
