UMD: Anatomically correct models of the human body or parts of the human body designed for medical training. Most of these manikins are made from foam, vinyl or other plastics which are molded to look and feel like human flesh. Instructors can use the manikins to demonstrate various surgical and medical techniques. Healthcare workers in many different specialties can learn and practice how to respond to different scenarios with the life-like manikins. Some manikins can be set up to represent various patient reactions or conditions such as vomiting or an obstructed airway. Training manikins are available in different body types and sizes such as infant, pediatric, adult, and bariatric.
