MSH: A family of serine endopeptidases found in the SECRETORY GRANULES of LEUKOCYTES such as CYTOTOXIC T-LYMPHOCYTES and NATURAL KILLER CELLS. When secreted into the intercellular space granzymes act to eliminate transformed and virus-infected host cells.,NCI: Representing most of the granule content of cytotoxic T cells, Granzymes are serine esterases (endopeptidases) that contain a serine residue at the active site involved in catalysis of internal peptide bonds in a polypeptide or protein. It is not known if these enzymes are required for killing by the cytotoxic T cell.
