MSH: A membrane-bound tumor necrosis family member found primarily on LYMPHOCYTES. It can form a heterotrimer (LYMPHOTOXIN ALPHA1, BETA2 HETEROTRIMER) with the soluble ligand LYMPHOTOXIN-ALPHA and anchor it to the cell surface. The membrane-bound complex is specific for the LYMPHOTOXIN BETA receptor.,NCI: Lymphotoxin is a cytokine that orchestrates lymphoid neogenesis and is present on the surface of activated T-, B-, and LAK cells as a heterotrimer of alpha and beta subunits. LT is secreted as an alpha homotrimer. LT beta glycoprotein is a 33 kD type II membrane protein that anchors LT alpha to the cell surface and has significant homology to TNF, LT alpha, and CD40 ligand.
