MSH: A species of gram-positive, coccoid bacteria commonly isolated from clinical specimens and the human intestinal tract. This species is catalase positive, oxidase negative, ferments citrate, does not ferment arabinose or melibiose, reduces tetrazolium and is a lactic acid bacteria. E. faecalis is a leading agent of nosocomial infections in humans.
