MSH: Large, noncollagenous glycoprotein with antigenic properties. It is localized in the basement membrane lamina lucida and functions to bind epithelial cells to the basement membrane. Evidence suggests that the protein plays a role in tumor invasion.,CSP: major glycoprotein of basement membrane and other extracellular matrix structures; serves as an adhesive, chemoattractant, and cell activator during neurogenesis and other cell growth events.,NCI: A family of basement membrane extracellular basement proteins. Each molecule is composed of 3 nonidentical chains which are arranged in a cross-shaped structure. There are at least 5 alpha, 4 beta, and 3 gamma laminin genes.,NCI: A multimeric glycoprotein of the extracellular matrix, part of the basement membrane. Laminin binds to type IV collagen, heparan sulfate, and cell surface laminin receptors. Migrating tumor cells pass through several connective tissue barriers consisting of various adhesion molecules including laminin. (NCI04)
