During a 4-year period, gonorrhea was diagnosed in 1,119 male members of the Israel Defense Forces who were 18 to 21 years of age. Asian and North African ethnic origin, fewer years of schooling, and low socioeconomic status were found to be important risk factors. The ABO blood groups were not found to be associated with the occurrence of disease.
