Although a single ectopic ureter opening into the vagina has frequently been reported in literature, lateralized lumbar pain during sexual intercourse and urinary incontinence after pregnancy due to a single ectopic ureter are uncommon. The etiology and pathogenesis are unknown but some clinical, pathological and embryological considerations can be made.
