Two previous reports have suggested that the pregnancy loss rate with chorionic villus biopsy is high in the initial 100 to 300 cases. In the initial 211 cases of this study, the total pregnancy loss rate (7.1%) and losses not attributed to induced abortion or cytogenetic abnormality (2.8%) do not support this contention.
