Aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease is characterized by asthma, nasal polyps, and intolerance to aspirin with overexpression of leukotriene (LT) C(4) synthase and cysteinyl leukotriene receptors. Through an unknown mechanism, aspirin desensitization is an effective treatment.
