Craniopharyngioma has two subtypes: adamantinomatous and squamous-papillary. Squamous-papillary craniopharyngioma may develop from remnants of the craniopharyngeal duct, anterior pituitary cells with squamous metaplasia, suprasellar epidermoid cyst, or Rathke cleft cyst.
