The clinical features of asthma may vary very widely between individuals. Among those with severe persistent asthma, one can also distinguish different phenotypes. This distinction is important both for the understanding of the disease and for the treatment. The present review will briefly discuss corticoid-resistant asthma, occupational asthma, aspirin-induced asthma, and the association of asthma with obesity.
