Reactive oxygen species have been implicated in the development of hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. I/R injury remains an important problem in massive hepatectomy and organ transplantation. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of edaravone, a newly synthesized free radical scavenger, on I/R injury in the remnant liver after partial hepatectomy in rats.
