Immunohistochemical stainings were performed to observe the expression of the blood group antigens (A, B, H, Lewisa, Lewisb) and lactoseries type 1 core chain in normal and neoplastic endometrial tissues using a panel of monoclonal antibodies. The results indicated that normal endometrium mostly lacked the expression of these sugar structures. In endometrial carcinoma, the expression of H, Lewisa, Lewisb was evident and type 1 core chain was observed only after neuraminidase pretreatment. These data indicated that type 1 core chains were newly synthesized according to malignant transformations in endometrial tissues and they were partially fucosylated and partially sialylated.
