Information on the incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) following laparoscopic procedures is inadequate and there is currently no solid evidence to guide the use of thromboprophylaxis in this setting. Gynecologic laparoscopy is a common procedure, and is frequently performed in low-risk patients. To our knowledge, there are no clinical studies specifically designed to assess the incidence of VTE in this setting.
