Recent reports indicate that early CT scan (within 24 h) increases diagnostic accuracy, reduces hospital stay and mortality in patients with an acute abdomen. The aim of this study was to assess the surgeons' use of CT in patients with an acute abdomen and the impact of this on diagnostic accuracy and mortality.
