pubmed-article:12857996pubmed:abstractTextInflammation is part of the response to infection. It is often considered to be part of the innate response to infection, but it plays a significant role in molding the adaptive response. Conserved pathways that have evolved to contain the infection and mold the ensuing adaptive response can cause deleterious effects when dysregulated. In this review, the various roles of TNFalpha will be discussed. Its pleomorphic effects require complex regulatory strategies. Our work has focused on the role of TNFalpha in autoimmune diseases and the regulation of its expression by transcription factors and chromatin remodeling.lld:pubmed
