"This article describes the method devised by Gerard Calot...for estimating monthly TPFRs [total period fertility rates] when only provisional monthly figures for numbers of births are available. The application of the Calot method, together with the US Bureau of the Census X-11 seasonal adjustment package, for computing the trend in the England and Wales fertility rate is also described."
