The kavalactone, 11-methoxy-5,6-dihydroyangonin, and eight previously reported analogs along with four other aromatic compounds were isolated from the root extracts of Piper methysticum (Kava Kava). Their structural elucidations were made by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopic assignments using COSY, HMBC and HMQC experiments.
