Acute appendicitis is the most common surgically amenable cause of acute abdominal pain in children. We analyzed our past experience of appendectomies in children and present the clinical characteristics of appendicitis in children younger than 3 years of age. A better understanding of appendicitis in early childhood would allow us to achieve an earlier diagnosis.
