PET with 2-[18F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) is used for quantifying glucose metabolism in brain and myocardium in vivo. We developed and validated a similar procedure for the quantification of the two initial steps of glucose metabolism in skeletal muscle in vivo.
