Patients who present with concerns that they suffer from sexually transmitted infection frequently suffer from other problems. Occasionally it is simply not enough just to demonstrate that the patient has no evidence of sexually transmitted disease, but it is important to diagnose the cause of their symptoms and to refer them to the appropriate specialty physician for care and attention.
