A new species of ceratophyllid flea, Orchopeas illinoiensis Lewis, n. sp., is described from the eastern woodrat, Neotoma floridana (Ord, 1818) collected in southwestern Illinois. Its diagnostic characters are illustrated, and an earlier collection record from Pulaski County, MO, is documented.
