The antibiotic activity of these two strains of S. albus is facilitated by culture on slices of Potatoes. Streptomyces extracts show an antibiotic activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and an antifongic activity aginst nearly all Aspergillus. These antimicrobial effects bring hope of a utilization against some mycotoxin pollution, or mold attacks.
