Acute hyperglycemia inhibits gallbladder contraction. In non-diabetic subjects this inhibitory effect may result from endogenous hyperinsulinemia. Therefore we investigated the effects of acute hyperglycemia and euglycemic hyperinsulinemia on basal and cholecystokinin-stimulated gallbladder motility.
