Subendocardial Purkinje myocytes from the 48-hour infarcted heart (IZPCs) have reduced resting potentials, possibly due to altered inwardly rectifying K+ currents IK1. Abnormal depolarization-activated outward K+ currents could contribute to long triangularly shaped action potentials of IZPCs.
