Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) is used to cryopreserve hematopoietic stem cells and is obligatorily infused into patients who receive stem-cell transplants. This study characterized the plasma concentrations and pharmacokinetics of DMSO and its metabolites in patients who underwent peripheral-blood stem-cell transplants.
