Attrition of nursing students is a problem in nursing programs across the country and is not limited solely to programs in historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This article will describe some of the strategies utilized by nursing faculty in one HBCU to assist students in overcoming barriers that inhibit their academic success.
