Detection of ABO system antibodies of IgG class in human sera is of importance both for diagnosis of feto-maternal incompatibility and for transfusiology. Inactivation of IgM and IgA class antibodies by 2-mercaptoethanol with subsequent estimation of IgG class antibodies, insensitive to 2-mercaptoethanol, serves as one of the approaches to the problem. In serological studies, IgG class antibody level is usually determined by the indirect antiglobulin test. Since the automatic technique is regarded as more accurate, we have attempted to adapt it to estimation of the ABO system antibody level.
