The role of thoracic surgery in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) continues to evolve. This review seeks to evaluate the outcome, morbidity, and mortality associated with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for empyema and pneumothorax in patients with AIDS.
