A 64-year-old woman was found to have a posterior mediastinal mass. X-ray findings revealed a neurogenic tumor, i.e., a schwannoma or neurofibroma. Postoperative pathological examination of the resected tumor showed it to be a ganglioneuroma an extremely rare occurrence, given the fact that the mediastinal ganglioneuroma tends to be diagnosed in adolescents and young adults.
