The late 1990s offers an opportunity for physicians to have equity in a profitable managed care organization. Managed care today is money management to improve the profit for corporations. Quality is desired but not demanded by payors at this time. To compete effectively, physician-owned managed care organizations must be able to demonstrate to the payors their results, showing quality medical care and cost containment.
