The neural crest influences the differentiation of the branchial arches, including the precursor tissue of the cardiac outflow tract and the eustachian tubes. Abnormal eustachian tubes are associated with otitis media. We hypothesized a relationship between conotruncal anomalies and eustachian tube anomalies.
